The Weekend
The weekend went pretty well. Nick and I hosted a small housewarming gathering at our new place. Some good friends (Chris and Sara) drove in from St. Louis on Easter weekend to help us break in the apartment. There was plenty of Boulevard Wheat (we got a 6th barrel), punch, other boozes, and tasty foodie treats.
Me being the lazy person I am did not take a single picture of the event. It was cold and I was busy sipping on a delicious Captain Morgans Private stock rum and coke. Ummm I all of a sudden find myself salivating.... Anyway, many thanks to Sara for assisting in the preparation of the tasty treats. I spent a day perusing websites for recipes. This is the list of deliciousness:
Spicy Spinach and Artichoke dip (I realize it might be preposterous to claim this but it was indeed better than the chokes and cheese at Flat Branch)
Chipotle Turkey finger sandwiches (these were supposed to be similar to the Sierra turkey at Panera... very very tasty)
Guacamole
Herdez salsa (note previous blog about its superior quality in salsaness)
loads o cheeses
summer sausage (at one point Tobie wound up running around with half of the sausage in his mouth... and again in the morning when i let him outside it mysteriously showed up again)
Jack Daniels Burgers (with the extra kick of fresh garlic and onion mixed into them)
Olive tapenade (my first attempt at making this was a success. Someone even wanted the recipe)
Hummus (prepared by Sara Duncan was a hit. I kept hearing people exclaim how delicious it was)
There were veggies and chips etc too.
The party was separated into two groups:
Group one (this is where i was for most of the night): hovered near the food and drinks. In this group people didn't really want to "commit" to a plate.
Group two: the Wii playing group. I was surprised by how many people wanted to play the Wii. We had many batteries fall casualty to all of the gaming and only one wrist strap was broken.
All in all it was a great first small gathering with many more to come in the future. Also I must say I was impressed with how Tobie responded to the crowd of people. He was a social butterfly hopping from person to person. I do have pictures of how cute he is now that we have officially decided he is a year old.
