That warm fuzzy feeling
Yes, it's nearing that time of the year again. What time is that, you ask? Why it's almost Valentines day! (No, that exclamation point isn't there because I'm super excited about the holiday) Frankly I have to say that each time this "holiday" rolls around I find myself less and less interested in recognizing it as anything other than simply just the exact mid point of February. I used to love Valentines day when I was little. I looked forward to tons of candy, the silly little cards, and basically a day of fun at school. I always hated having to remember the names of everyone in my class so I could give them a card... but that's beside the point.
I fell off the "Valentines bandwagon" in junior high (when the fun parties basically ended). There are some of you thinking, "seriously you think Valentines day is worthless only because you no longer get free candy and party it up elementary school style? It's a day about love...blah blah blah blah blah blah......" I get that it's to celebrate the love you have for others and whatnot but, I happen to be a firm believer that love is something that we should celebrate on a regular/daily basis not just because some date on the calendar tells us to express it(and waste money on it. Which, listening to the radio today the Eagle 93.9 let me know that on average an American person spends $101 on Valentines day, SICK!).
This year I have admittedly told Nick not to buy me anything for Valentines day. Last year we spent it at Apple Bee's drinking margaritas and didn't exchange gifts. I have to say, Apple Bee's apparently isn't the big hang out for Valentines day. This year I am thinking maybe we will hit up Golden Corral or maybe Steak'n'Shake haha.
Give the gift of love this year... or maybe give a lobster gram?
