Rested and Akansasized

Yes, I know it has been a while since I have posted on this here blog. So, here is how my 4 day Memorial Day weekend went. First of all let me preface this with, I have been with a wonderful man (Nick) for enough time to where he has decided I must meet his mother. I have heard many wonderful stories about her so, the idea of meeting the woman who raised such a terrific individual made me nervous. Any who, I took the day off on Friday and we (Nick and I) drove down to Camp, Arkansas. This is about 14 miles southwest of Mammoth Spring.

I have to say Nick's mother is so incredibly sweet and welcoming. I felt like I was a member of the family from the moment I walked up. Never once was there an awkward moment. The night we arrived there had been a storm so power was knocked out. We just sat on the porch for a good hour or so and chatted. At one point Nick and I left to go drop off some food to the BBQ planned for Sunday. I met some of his aunts, uncles and his grandma. The night was finished out with his mom and I chatting at the dinner table. The comfortable laid back atmosphere reminded me of the talks I have with my grandmother. It was just perfect.

Day 2, we went to the Walmarts (that’s what Nick's mom calls it. its really cute to hear it with her slight southern drawl). Nick had to buy some stuff to set up his mom's computer. On Sunday we had the big family reunion BBQ. Tons of kids running around. I met so many people and heard so many little secrets about family members that I think my brain is still trying to process everything.

Ok, well, I think I’m going to cut off the details because they might seem boring to you. All in all it was a great weekend. I had a relaxing time and cannot wait to spend more time with his family in the future.
